Jane is an alumnus of Sydney University. She studied on a French Government scholarship in Paris with Alain Marion and Jean-Pierre Rampal, lectured at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, founded The Music Scheme, formed the innovative chamber group, POSH, has performed with The Seymour Group, The Australia Ensemble and worked as principal flute in the Elizabethan Trust Orchestra. 60 Minutes did a feature story on her musical philosophy.

Nominated for an Edinburgh Fringe award, later in 2005 Jane was the patron of the Australian International Flute Convention. ABC Classic FM describes Jane as "One of Australia's leading performance artists". With 16 top selling solo albums, she is also an acclaimed composer. In 2007, Limelight magazine, included Jane as one of the top 11 female influences in the world of Classical music. In 2012 she had a #No1 and ARIA award (Australian Grammy) nominated album. In 2013 she was Limelight’s no 2 classical artist. Jane is consistently the #No 1 Classical artist on internet music site Reverbnation. Since 1990, she has been a household name in Australia, appearing on every major television show.  Jane studied with Alain Marion and Jean-Pierre Rampal in Paris, after which she returned to Australia to lecture in flute and chamber music at the Sydney Conservatorium.
