Kerrod Walters started playing football at age five and went on to play 206 First Grade Games for the Brisbane Broncos. He was awarded Player of the Year, played in the Premiership wins of 1992 and 1993 and inducted into the Broncos Hall of Fame in 2004.

He played six Origin Games for Queensland in State Of Origin 1989, 1990 and 1994.

Kerrod played 20 Super League Games and was Captain in 1999. He also played eight Test Matches for Australia in the 1989 New Zealand Tour, 1990 Kangaroo Tour, 1991 PNG Tour and 1992 World Cup Tour. In total his rugby league career saw him play a total of 270 First Grade Games.

Along with twin brother Kevin, they were the first twins to be selected on a Kangaroo Tour. With both brothers Steve and Kevin, they have been the only three brothers ever selected for Australia.

At the end of the 1999 season, Walters signed a one-year deal with the Broncos but played in just one match from the interchange bench during the 2000 season.

That year he was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his contribution to Australia's international standing in the sport of rugby league.
