The events leading to Steven’s rise to fame in men’s speed skating took place all in a matter of moments, leading to victory and a gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics. It would be Australia’s first gold at a Winter Olympics. Steven’s inspiring story has conceived the phrase “He’s done a Bradbury” and given it a home in the Australian vernacular. Steven Bradbury created history in Salt Lake City when he became the first Australian to win a Winter Olympic Gold Medal.
Since his remarkable victory Steven Bradbury is inspiring people all over the world spreading his message of Passion and Persistence. The 4-time Olympian is fast becoming one of Australia's most accomplished and popular keynote speakers.

'DOING A BRADBURY' has now become a permanent part of the Australian vernacular meaning 'A FLUKEY SUCCESS'. Luck played a part in Steven's SUCCESS but his gold medal win was not as fortuitous as many believe. Bradbury knew his limitations and also the unpredictable nature of short track racing. Some people have described Steven Bradbury’s victory as lucky. Winning Olympic gold took a lot more than just luck. The same as in business, strategy and planning were key ingredients in his success. Four Olympic campaigns and 12 years of hard slog including an Olympic Bronze in 1994, 111 stitches in my leg and in the year 2000 a broken neck. 18 months later that same neck was supporting an Olympic Gold Medal.

Steven Bradbury’s story touches a chord with people from all walks of life and is a prime example to all if you ‘stick it out’ you too can be the last man standing.
