Moon Walker
The world was glued to their television screens on July 16, 1969 as Apollo 11 astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong took the first human steps on the moon. Since retiring from NASA, the Air Force, and his position as Commander of the Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base, Dr. Aldrin continues a leading role for America in manned space exploration. His commitment to space science and tourism saw the founding of his rocket design company, Starcraft Boosters, Inc., and the non-profit ShareSpace Foundation.

| Matina Jewell |
"Caught in the Crossfire"
Matina Jewell is the kind of soldier every country is proud to have – fearless, honourable and highly skilled. A star graduate from the Australian Army’s prestigious Royal Military College Duntroon, in the years that followed she had become a highly valued army commander. In her military career she earned eight war medals, tracked militia leaders in the Solomons, fast-roped out of Navy helicopters and boarded smuggler ships in the Arabian Gulf. She also served on operations with the American Navy Seals and Australian Special Forces.

Retired Chief of Army
Lieutenant General Peter Leahy retired in July 2008 after a six year term as Chief of Army. This is the longest period of service as Chief of Army since General Harry Chauvel in the 1920s. Peter Leahy held command of the Army during a period of unprecedented operational activity, challenge, tempo and change. During his tenure of command the Army had its busiest operational period since the Vietnam War with multiple, concurrent, large scale, war fighting deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq and complex stabilization deployments to East Timor and The Solomon Islands. |

| Major General Jim Molan |
Defence Force Leader
Retiring from The Australian Army in July 2008 after 40 years service, Major General Molan has seen service across a broad range of command appointments in operations, training and diplomatic genres. US Ambassador Negroponte wrote, “Molan excelled as a soldier diplomat in the complicated political and military environment of Iraq....he provided the wise counsel and strong leadership necessary for our success in creating a democratic, secure and free Iraq....Major General Molan literally made history and helped reshape the Middle East.” Fluent in Indonesian, a helicopter pilot, Commander of an Infantry Battalion, Commander of Australian Defence Colleges, service in East Timor and Solomon Islands all provided the necessary training and experience when in his posting to Iraq was promulgated. Major General Molan was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross by the Australian Government and the Legion of Merit by the United States Government.
