Sports Personality & Swimmer

In a career that began at just 14 years old Nicole Livingstone remains in the hearts and minds of Australian’s as one of this country’s greatest swimmers. Her achievements are numerous, encompassing all major international competitions in which she was a member of the Australian Swimming Team for 12 consecutive years. On retirement Nicole turned to the media where she has notched up a successful career as a sports commentator. Her energy and on-camera presence have made her a popular and entertaining TV personality.

One of the all-time greats of Australian Swimming, Nicole Livingstone was a member of the Australian swimming team for twelve consecutive years from 1985 - 1996.
Her international career began at just fourteen when she travelled to Tokyo for the 1985 Pan Pacific Championships.

In 1987 she began the longest winning sequence of any Australian swimmer at the national titles, winning ten consecutive 100m backstroke titles between 1987 and 1996.

Her career achievements speak for themselves. She has won an impressive number of medals at three Olympic Games, three Commonwealth Games and six Pan Pacific Championships. She also broke a world record in the 200m backstroke (short course) in 1992.

Nicole has played a prominent part representing her fellow athletes during the Sydney 2000 bid. She has also been kept busy in her role on the Australian Olympic Committee Athletes Commission from 1992 - 2000 and as the inaugural Chairperson of the AIS Athletes Commission. She is also a current member of the Australian Swimming Inc's Strategy and Development Committee

Following the 1996 Olympic Games Nicole retired from competitive swimming and is now enjoying her professional career in television which has seen her in a variety of positions from the host's chair of Channel 9's flagship sports programs: Wide World of Sports and Sports Saturday to hosting the Commonwealth Games and as a sports commentator/host with their Logie award winning swimming coverage. She is also on the board of the State Centre Trust and Chair the Victorian Government’s Community Advisory Committee for Positive Body Image

Currently Nicole is keeping busy as a daily radio presenter in the drive time shift on SEN Melbourne, Australia's first 24 hour sport radio network. She is also the Director of OvCa Australia, The National Ovarian Cancer Network an organisation she founded after the death of her mother in July 2001.
