Recognising Stress

Are your delegates looking for a fresh, engaging and thoroughly practical conference session? Let leading physiotherapist and author, Anna-Louise Bouvier, demonstrate simple tools that they can use immediately at work to recognize and relieve the physical signs of stress and too much sitting or lifting.

She is a regular corporate speaker presenting in the area of stress and life/work balance and surviving sitting.

Anna-Louise is the Executive Director and Creator of Happy Body At Work. It is a joint venture with the ABC and has rolled out to over 15,000 people last year alone in organisations as diverse as Optus, the ASX, Minter Ellison, CatholicCare, the University of Sydney and UTS.

Anna-Louise is a physiotherapist and the developer of Physiocise, a specialised exercise and education program for people with back or neck pain. Her practice in Sydney employs nine physiotherapists and has over 750 clients each week in its 47 classes. For the past 6 years she has consulted to the NSW Waratahs Super 12 team (and more recently, to the ACT Brumbies) in the area of injury prevention.

She was an expert on the ABC's Making Couples Happy and Making Australia Happy.

Anna-Louise also wrote and recorded The Qantas Comfort Zone series of exercises for all Qantas flights. She has released three DVDs and three best selling books. Her audio series on back pain (ABC audio) was one of the best selling audios in 2000 and her recently published book Fix your Back (ABC books) is already in its 2nd edition. She also writes for InStyle magazine about health and fitness.

Anna-Louise’s work is grounded in scientific fact and features the latest research in this area. However, her inimitable style of delivery is guaranteed to lift the mood of your conference at the end of a heavy day. Your delegates will finish not only having learnt something new and useful about their backs and bodies, but having thoroughly enjoyed doing so. Because the presentation is so interactive, it puts people in the right mood to begin the social part of the conference.

In this distinctively practical and fun presentation, Anna-Louise explains how to acquire new skills to relieve back pain and muscle discomfort – for good. Your delegates will walk out with a better understanding of how stress affects their backs and their bodies. They will feel invigorated, a few centimetres taller and ready to tackle the world.

Your delegates will sit, they’ll stand and they’ll laugh with each other as they diagnose posture types. They will come to appreciate how their buttocks are the key to a stronger, more balanced spine. Ultimately, they will understand how to engage their brains and create new movement patterns for a strong, supported back.

An additional popular way to use Anna-Louise’s skills is to have a series of sessions for smaller groups during the course of the conference. In these fun, non-threatening sessions, Anna-Louise features great music, gentle stretches, simple posture strategies, posture dots and bottom-clenchers to teach your delegates how to relax their backs and ease their tension. These are not heavy exercise sessions and delegates don’t need to be fit to participate. However, they are a surefire way to get people feeling relaxed in a group.
