Dual Olympian

Indigenous diplomat Patrick Johnson is a dual Olympian and Australia's fastest 100m sprinter of all time!
He began his career in 1996. Just four years later, the indigenous athlete was selected to compete at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, running in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.

In 2003 he achieved an Oceania and Australian record time on 9.93 seconds, becoming the first Australian, and first person not of West African ancestry to break the 10-second barrier. At 30 years of age was also the oldest person to achieve this feat.

Johnson made his second Olympic Team in Athens in the 4x100m relay, finishing sixth. Johnson has enjoyed Commonwealth Games success winning bronze in the 4x100m relay in 2002 and silver in the same race in 2010 as a heat runner.

Patrick is an indigenous diplomat, currently working with the NASCA (National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy) as the ARMtour Coordinator to deliver sport and recreation activities that encourage educational engagement for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students living in remote Northern Territory communities. He’s also achieved a Bachelor of Asian Studies and is fluent in several languages.
