Johnnie has trained as an actor at various acting schools including Sydney Acting School with David McSwan and Gillian Owen. He has studied short courses as part of the NIDA Open Programme, Acting For The Camera with Carlton Lamb, Screen Testing – Felix Williamson and Acting For the Camera with Sonja Tallis. He is also a successful, fully qualified personal trainer.
His television appearances include Big Brother for Southern Star, Weakest Link for Channel 7, Rove Live for Channel 10, Pizza for SBS, Sale Of The Century for Channel 9. His appearance on Big Brother attracted thousands of emails and letters with a demographic of predominately middle class females who wished they had a friend like him to teenagers facing acceptance and peer group pressure issues to males who had never related to a gay male before.
Johnnie was one of the hosts of City To Surf for Network Tens’ coverage, as well as a guest presenter for Channel Ten News and Good Morning Australia.
He has also appeared on Today Tonight and a Current Affair several times.
On radio, Johnnie has been working with The Club Veg Team with his own weekly segment, as well as various guest interviews nationally.
Johnnie appeared in the 2002 National IKEA advertising campaign and made a guest appeared in the short film, ‘Night Trade’ He was a guest presenter on Search For A Supermodel in the physical trainer capacity, again for the Ten Network. He has completed two feature roles in the films ‘Get Rich Quick Soon’ and the new Australian comedy by Ocean Pictures, ‘NED’.
Johnnie has dedicated a lot of his time to various charities including The Aids Trust Of Australia, The Starlight Foundation, The RSPCA and various other organizations.
Most recently Johnnie was a celebrity driver for the BMW Celebrity Challenge in Melbourne and just completed his role of MC for the Sydney Fitness Expo at Sydney’s Darling Harbour. Her is currently presenting his own show, DV8 for community television as well maintaining his Fitness Industry Position.
