After Dinner

Founder Dome Coffees

Born in San Francisco to first generation Italian, Greek-Irish Americans as the youngest of four girls, Patria grew up with parents active in the world of doing what needed to be done! From campaigning door to door for a presidential campaign to establishing an organisation for veterans, Patria’s childhood “being there” experience was about doing well.

In 1986, she moved to Australia to join a boutique brewery in Western Australia, Matilda Bay Brewing Co., and concentrated her efforts on launching new concepts on an unsuspecting market. The success of both the product and the company led to Matilda Bay being one of the most highly acclaimed boutique-brewing establishments in Australia.

After 15 years as an employee Patria decided to start her own business. She just needed one thing - an opportunity. That opportunity came in 1989 in the form of Phil May and Western Roast.

Phil roasted and sold kilos of coffee – 187 kilo’s per week in fact. It was in her opinion that amount could be lifted significantly. Armed with marketing expertise, full of ideas, dreams and a passion for coffee she explained her global vision to Phil. He smiled and simply said “let’s talk”.

In 1990 Patria & Phil formed Dome Coffees Australia. In less than 10 years, Dome grew to a multi-million dollar international importer, exporter franchiser, retailer and restaurateur with outlets throughout Australia, South East Asia, Indonesia and the Middle East.

Patria’s passion and commitment to her goals ultimately succeeded and she has been a revered and respected business woman ever since. Since starting Dome Coffee’s Patria has held several impressive advisory and board positions. She has served as a small business advisor to the Reserve Bank of Australia, is an associate fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and was the Chair of the Small Business Developed Corporation, just to name a few. Additionally, she has also dedicated a lot of her time to philanthropic and charitable endeavors. For over 10 years she has been a director of the international Hope for Children Organization Australia, just one way in which she achieves her personal credo to ‘give back more than [she] takes’.

Nowadays, through her various and diverse roles, Patria continues to improve businesses, industries and the community at large. Her career objective is to lead and develop dynamic, innovative, and strategically directed Boards to achieve high ambitions and work effectively with key stakeholders. Patria intends to do so in areas that make a difference to both financial results but also to the betterment of the community we live in.

In doing so, Patria is keen to combine all aspects of her diverse career; from Executive Management to Marketing, from People Leadership to Events Planning, from the public sector to corporate sponsorship, from the Arts to Tourism, from Directorships to being the Chair. With her personal passion for her adopted home of Western Australia, Patria is excited about guiding teams to excellence, and ultimately contributing to the ongoing growth our community at large.
